TheProfession.org began with a frustration that millions of Indian job seekers know too well. Finding a job often means navigating a fragmented ecosystem. Candidates build resumes on one platform, search for opportunities on another, practise interviews somewhere else, and still receive little or no feedback on why applications are not moving forward. Talented professionals are left guessing what went wrong, while employers struggle to identify the right people among hundreds of applications.
In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Surendra Singh saw this problem firsthand. He believed the Indian job seeker deserved something better than another listing website. What was needed was an intelligent platform that could guide professionals through every step of their career journey. A place where candidates could build stronger resumes, prepare for interviews, discover the right opportunities, and track applications in one system.
That idea became TheProfession. The company was incorporated as OpNex (OPC) Pvt Ltd, and the platform began with a simple mission: to build tools that actually help candidates succeed and help employers hire more effectively.
What started small quickly evolved as new needs emerged. Colleges reached out looking for better internship placement solutions. Training institutes wanted to connect students with real opportunities. Employers needed smarter ways to screen resumes and identify strong candidates. So the platform grew module by module, introducing resume builders, interview preparation tools, AI powered screening, internship placement systems, and employer dashboards.
Today, TheProfession supports more than 2.4 million professionals, 12,000 employers, and 50+ educational institutions across India. Yet the vision remains the same — to build a platform where talent wins on merit and where every professional has the opportunity to build a meaningful career regardless of background or geography.
"A platform where talent wins on its merits, regardless of where you studied or who you know."

For Surendra Singh, that problem was the hiring experience faced by millions of Indian professionals. Graduates were applying to hundreds of jobs without understanding why they were being rejected. Resumes disappeared into applicant tracking systems. Interviews were unpredictable and feedback was rare.
At the same time, recruiters were struggling with the opposite problem. Hundreds of applications but limited tools to evaluate candidates efficiently.
Having grown up outside the traditional metro tech ecosystem, Surendra understood how often talented individuals from smaller cities were overlooked. The issue was not talent. The issue was the absence of fair infrastructure connecting talent with opportunity.
Instead of accepting the system as it was, he decided to build something better.
The vision behind TheProfession was clear: create a platform that does more than list jobs. Build a system that actively helps professionals become stronger candidates and helps employers discover the right talent faster.
What began as a small initiative soon evolved into a larger mission. Tools were built to solve real problems faced by candidates, recruiters, and educational institutions every day. The focus has never been just growth. It has always been about building a platform that makes hiring more transparent, more intelligent, and more merit driven.
Talented professionals from smaller cities were consistently overlooked — not due to lack of skill, but lack of fair infrastructure.
The issue was not talent. The issue was the absence of tools that connected real capability with real opportunity.
Instead of accepting the system as it was, Surendra decided to build something better — from Meerut, for the world.
The modern hiring system has long been shaped by networks, referrals, and brand name institutions. Meanwhile millions of capable professionals apply for jobs without ever knowing what they could improve.
A graduate from a smaller city may have the same skills as someone from a major metropolitan university, yet their resume may never receive the same visibility.
Recruiters face a different challenge. They receive hundreds of applications but lack efficient ways to evaluate them fairly. This disconnect slows down careers and makes hiring harder than it should be.
TheProfession exists to close that gap. We believe opportunity should not depend on geography, connections, or guesswork. By combining technology with intelligent evaluation tools, we aim to create an ecosystem where candidates can continuously improve their profiles and employers can discover talent based on real capability.
"Opportunity should not depend on geography, connections, or guesswork."

Improves real interview confidence through structured practice and feedback.
Resume analytics that show exactly where a profile can be improved for better visibility.
Built for colleges and students to connect with verified, real-world opportunities.
Helps recruiters identify strong candidates faster without manual filtering.
Streamlines candidate management and reduces time-to-hire across the board.
We are also building partnerships with colleges, training institutes, and educational organisations to improve early career opportunities and internship pathways. Our long term goal is simple: build a hiring ecosystem where candidates grow with clarity, employers hire with confidence, and institutions connect talent to real opportunities.
The nature of work is changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence, remote collaboration, and digital skill verification are transforming how careers grow and how companies hire. Yet most hiring platforms still function as simple listing boards.
TheProfession is building something different. We envision a future where every professional has a living career profile that evolves with their skills, achievements, and experiences — while employers discover candidates through intelligent matching rather than manual filtering.
Our ambition goes beyond helping people find their next job. We are building the infrastructure that helps professionals build entire careers — starting in India and expanding globally. Because when the right people meet the right opportunities, individuals grow, companies innovate, and economies move forward.
In the future we see
Candidates receiving real insights on how to improve their profiles
Employers identifying strong candidates within minutes
Colleges connecting students directly to real industry opportunities
A hiring ecosystem where skills and potential matter more than location or connections
"Starting in India and expanding globally — because when the right people meet the right opportunities, individuals grow, companies innovate, and economies move forward."
